ABOUT RAINBOW EBOP
Rainbow EBOP is your local support service for all things Rainbow including a weekly drop-in centre, an online resource, or reference point for support and advocacy. We also deliver rainbow/takatāpui competency training and run rainbow events.
WHAT WE OFFER
Rainbow Eastern Bay of Plenty works tirelessly to provide quality, long-term solutions for a number of pressing issues affecting our community. Our most significant causes are those that are often brushed aside by most. Our battle is against indifference, and we would love for you to become part of that change today.
One of the main reasons Rainbow Eastern Bay of Plenty was created was to compensate for the lack of support for people who identify with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and sex characteristics/intersex. We’ve dedicated a lot of hours and invested countless resources into this charitable cause, and hope you’ll help us continue this work. See how you can by contacting us below.
PROVIDING RAINBOW COMPETENCY TRAINING
Why is this training necessary? Rainbow/Takatāpui people in Aotearoa face a range of complex issues and minority stress, and we do not always receive specific training about their needs and experiences despite sitting among the highest risk for mental health issues and suicide (due to minority stress).
What will the training cover?
Key Concepts & Terminology
Aotearoa Takatāpui History
Minority Stress & Internalised Oppression
Developing Rainbow Inclusive Practice
Resources & Questions
However, the training can be tailored to meet the needs of the audience through creative interactions.
Both co-founders of Rainbow EBOP are registered counsellors and members of the rainbow community. We are registered with Mike King's Gumboot Friday organisation to provide 2-4 free counselling sessions.
